  Scott “Scotty” Edward Carstens, 41, of Outing, Minnesota, passed away at his home on February 8, 2025. He was born on June 7, 1983, to Barb and Larry Carstens.

   Scotty was preceded in death by his parents, Barb and Larry Carstens; his maternal grandparents, Glenn and Pat Mechelke; his paternal grandparents, Ed and Mildred Carstens; and his great-grandmother, Alice Mechelke.

   Scotty attended Northland Community Schools, where he was an avid athlete, participating in basketball and football. He was also a talented artist with a creative spirit. Known for his vast knowledge and sharp wit, Scotty was always ready to share facts or engage in a friendly debate. Scotty loved to cook and you would often times find him in the kitchen along with his mother, sisters, nieces and nephews. One of Scotty’s favorite places to be was the lake lot near his home.

   Above all, Scotty was a devoted and loving uncle. He cherished the role and took great pride in being there for his nieces and nephews, whether as a babysitter, a cheering fan at their games, or a playmate in the yard. Hunting was a beloved pastime, one he shared not only with his father but also with his siblings, nieces, and nephews, forming special bonds with each of them.

   Scotty is survived by his sisters, Stacey (Shaun) McKinney of Grand Rapids, MN, and Sara (Brian) Post of Outing, MN; his nine beloved nieces and nephews, Taylor Carstens, Alexis Greene, Dakota Carstens, Zachary Greene, Madison Greene, Abbigail Smith, McKinna McKinney, Brayden McKinney, and Bentley McKinney. He is also survived by his aunts, Kim (Dave) Hughes of Outing, MN, and Judy (Bob) Seidel of Montana along with two great nephews Colter Carstens and Ronan Carstens and numerous cousins.

   A celebration of Scotty’s life will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, March 29, 2025 at the Village Inn in Outing.  Sharing of Memories will be at 1:30 p.m. Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
