Storm win 4 out of 5 games for the week
After playing some tough teams the girls are starting to find their grove and came up with four wins this past week. Unfortunately, on Thursday, Jan. 23 they fell to the Cherry Tigers at home.
Thurs., Jan. 16 brought Fond du Lac to Remer, with the Storm taking a 65-21 victory. Charity Berg was the leading scorer for the evening with 12 points. Bella Dunham scored 11, while Jasmine Kingsley added 10. Other players getting on the scoreboard were Nora Wake and Madi King with eight, Maddy Barnes with six and Casey Jones and Liz Johnson both with four.
Other stats for the evening saw Barnes and Dunham with eight rebounds, while Dunham also had two steals. Ashlyn Schwarz came down with seven boards and three steals, while King and Johsnon both had six rebounds with one assist and three assists respectively.
The Storm then took home a 50-40 win over Littlefork-Big Falls, Fri., Jan. 17 in Hill City. Dunham ended the night with 14 points, 11 rebounds, one steal and one assist, while Wake contributed 12 points, six rebounds, three steals and two assists. Other top scorers were Berg and Abby Zapzalka with nine and eight points respectively. Berg had one rebound, five steals and one assist, while Zapzalka had two rebounds and three steals.
Mon., Jan. 20 saw the girls on the road in McGregor. The Storm came home with a 50-42 win over the Mercs with Wake having the hot hand putting up 23 points and seven steals. Dunham added 10 to the scoreboard, while Berg contributed seven. Barnes was the top rebounder for the evening with eight, while Imani Richey and Johnson both came up with seven rebounds. Berg ended the night with four rebounds, five assists and three steals, with Dunham having two steals and assists.
On Tues., Jan. 21 the girls continued to be hot on the road in their 79-45 win over Greenway. Barnes put up 19 points, while Wake scored 18 and Berg contributed 14. Barnes and Wake both walked away with 11 rebounds for the evening, with wake also having three steals and two assists. Barnes had one steal and one assist, while Berg ended the evening with five steals, five rebounds and two assists. Richey contributed with nine rebounds, one steal and one assist plus two points on the scoreboard.
Thurs., Jan. 23 saw the girls winning streak come to an end with a 47-63 loss against Cherry in Remer. Top scorers for the evening were Berg with 15, Barnes with 14 and Wake with nine.
The Storm hosted Laporte on Mon., Jan. 27, in Remer, they will then get some much needed time off before traveling to North Woods on Fri., Jan. 31 and Aitkin on Mon., Feb. 3.
