Jan. 22, 1925
Miss Mamie Tracy, teacher of the 5th and 6th grades at the Federal Dam School has been sick the past two days and unable to teach.
H. C. Manders and Geo Kline wandered into Walker after various experiences in corn fields and other parts of the landscape. The drifts were too deep to keep the car on the road.
Jake Beckman of Wabedo hauled a load of ties to Pine River on Tuesday.

Jan. 19, 1950
Pvt. Lawrence Elwell died Wednesday as a result of burns he received fighting a forest fire at Camp Carson, OR. He is the son of Amy Elwell of Longville.
A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Harry Halverson of Rogers township on Jan. 8th.
William White and Ramona Losh and Bennie White and Luella Mae Losh all of Bena applied for marriage licenses.

Jan. 23, 1975
Mrs. John Berger , pregnant woman of Brevik, took a ride on a snowmobile to get to an ambulance after she began having labor pains. She gave birth to an 8 pound 5 ½ ounce baby girl at Itasca hospital.
An ambulance was called to take Mrs. Carl Daniels to the hospital in Grand Rapids. The stork overtook the ambulance and Bob Burch assisted in the delivery of the baby.
Chuck and George Williams are the new owners of Fletcher’s Auto Service. They have renamed the business Williams Auto Service.

Jerry Pepin was hired as the Remer Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director. He is owner of the Remer Motel and Campground and served the chamber as treasurer.
A Victorian doll house was built by Richard Thomas of Longville in memory of his niece, Mauri Manus, who died of leukemia. It was donated Jan. 11 to the Abbott-Northwestern Children’s Hospital in the Twin Cities.
In further competition Jesse Murray advanced from Remer Elementary, Matt Eck from Longville Elementary and Nathan Eck from the Middle School level have an opportunity to compete at the state level.
