Larry Hendershott

b. April 5, 1940 d. Jan. 6, 2025

Larry Hendershott, 84, of Grand Rapids, MN, passed away on January 6, 2025, at the Diamond Willow Memory Care and Assisted Living in Grand Rapids.

Larry was born on April 5, 1940, in Wasioja Township, MN, the cherished son of Samuel and Grace Mechling. Larry’s journey through life was marked by a spirit of determination and dedication. He was united in marriage to Susanne Radke on April 19, 2014, in Sedona, Arizona.

Larry was proud to work for many different employers, such as John Deere in the Engineering Department, Martz Furniture Store in Le Roy, managed the OK Hardware Store in Brainerd and Remer, and served as Vice President for the Remer State Bank which is now the Woodland Bank. What made each of these important to him was the skills he learned and all the lifelong friends he made throughout the years, especially at Woodland Bank.

Larry spent many years as a child helping his grandfather build barns and learning carpentry. Which led him to build his own home on Mabel Lake in Remer. He loved working with wood and especially helping his daughters with their projects in their homes.

Larry loved to travel and always made that a memorable time with who ever he traveled with, as he loved a life full of adventure. He so enjoyed traveling to see son Larry, and daughters Beth, Michelle and Lisa.

As an avid outdoorsman, Larry enjoyed the serenity of nature through hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and boating. In his more recent years, he loved his golf cart and living on the Minnesota National Golf Course. Larry loved anything with a motor, especially snowmobiling. While living in Remer, he was a dedicated member of the Longville Snowmobile Club, dedicating many years to grooming the trails so others could share his passion. He was also a car enthusiast, at one point owning 52 cars.

Larry’s true legacy lies in the love and devotion he bestowed upon his family. He cherished each moment spent with his children, stepchildren, grandchildren, and step grandchildren who were the lights of his life. He instilled in them the values of hard work, kindness, resilience, and his spirit will live on in their hearts.

He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife Judy, second wife Geraldine, son David Burt, and sister Peggy Ash.

Larry is survived by his beloved wife Susanne Radke, an exceptional legacy of children: Larry “Mickey” (Jan) Burt, Beth (Larry) Roberts, Michelle Thompson, Todd (Angela) Hendershott, Lisa (Cliff) Porterfield, and Corey (Connie) Hendershott. Larry also leaves behind stepchildren: Todd (Mary) Radke and Michelle (Cliff) Nelson; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In accordance with his wishes no formal ceremony is planned.

Arrangements are with the Rowe Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Grand Rapids, MN. To sign the online guestbook or send condolences visitwww.rowefuneralhomeandcrematory.com.
