Brainerd, MN – January 3, 2025– The Crow Wing Power Board of Directors is thrilled to announce that Tim Thompson will join the Cooperative as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) on February 28, 2025. Thompson brings a wealth of experience and leadership in the electric cooperative industry and is poised to guide Crow Wing Power into a dynamic future.
“The Board unanimously agreed that Tim has the experience, knowledge, and skills that would be the best fit for Crow Wing Power,” said Mark Ronnei, Crow Wing Power’s Board President. “We are excited to have him join our team, and we have full confidence in Tim to successfully lead us in the years to come.”
Thompson comes to Crow Wing Power after serving as CEO of Lake Region Electric Cooperative in Pelican Rapids, MN, for 17 years. Prior to that, he was CEO of Freeborn Mower Electric Cooperative in Albert Lea, MN. His extensive expertise in cooperative leadership, strategic planning, and member-focused service will be instrumental in advancing Crow Wing Power’s mission.

Thompson holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from Iowa State University and a master’s degree in business administration from Jacksonville State University. His educational background and professional accomplishments underscore his commitment to fostering sustainable growth and innovation within electric cooperatives.
