Earth Day Gardening 101 Class & More April 22


   New to gardening?  Sign up for this Earth Day Gardening 101 class at Balsam Moon Preserve on Tuesday, April 22, 6-8 pm and learn the basics of organic gardening from Barb Mann, co-founder of Balsam Moon Preserve and long-time gardener. Information presented will included: garden location, soil health / composting, choosing what to grow, seed starting, transplanting, companion planting, growing / nurturing (compost tea), harvesting, preserving, partnership with nature.  Resources will be shared and knowledge of those attending as we all know SOMETHING related to gardening and there are MANY approaches.

   Additional Classes this Spring include Wattle Fence Creation on Saturday, May 3, 9am-noon and Morel Mushroom Foraging on Thursday, May 15, 1-5pm with Melissa Olson, Master Naturalist.  Summer offerings include monthly pizza nights, foraging wild edibles, mushrooms and medicinals, tours, StoryWalk on a trail through the woods and more.    Registration for all classes and activities is encouraged by calling 218-587-3808 or emailing [email protected].  Balsam Moon operates on reciprocity and sliding fee scale meaning you “give back” according to the value to you based on your resources – which may be money, volunteering, goods needed, etc..

   Balsam Moon Preserve is a non-profit organization sharing an alternative, sustainable, spiritual place of peace, honoring the earth and all living things. They offer trails, workshops on site and on-line, demonstrations of solar uses and alternative building methods, gardens, a labyrinth, overnight stays, pizza nights in the summer and opportunities to gather in community sharing our common humanity. You are also welcome to come and simply walk the trails, grounds, labyrinth or sit by the pond and enjoy nature.
