On Saturday September 28, 2024 Bob passed away because of injuries received in an automobile accident earlier that day. Bob was 60 years old.
Bob was born October 24, 1963 to Wilbur and Kathleen Leerssen in Minneapolis MN. Bob attended elementary school, middle school, and high school in Blaine MN. After high school Bob enlisted in The United Marine Corp. After his discharge from the Marines Bob returned to Minnesota. Working several years in Minneapolis, Bob said he had “enough” of the Cities and moved to Remer MN. In 2001 to present Bob was employed by Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe as a shuttle driver for Northern Lights Casino.
Bob loved playing cribbage and was always ready for a game during break time in the employee break room at the casino. During football season Bob would watch all the games on TV. Sitting on the edge of his couch during the game Bob had his advice for the players on the status of the game and did not hesitate to let the players know as if the players could hear him. Fishing, fishing, fishing, and more fishing was Bob’s passion. Always ready to catch the “big one.” Fishing trips to Canada were some of his memorable times fishing. Bob fished all the lakes around the Remer area many, many times over.
Bob was proceeded in death by his grandparents, sister LuAnn and his parents and his beloved dog “Buddy.” Bob is survived by two brothers, Myron (Tami) Leerssen Pine River, MN, and Scott Leerssen Staples MN, two sisters, Jennifer, and Belinda. Step mother Patty Leerssen of Anchorage, AK. Nieces and nephews. Extended family of Sue Leerssen and her children Kristine, Geoffrey, and Katherine and nine grand children Trevone, Kiajarra, D’Ante, Morris Jr, Jordan, Dakota, Autumn, Cameron, and Hayden
Lifelong friends Greg Wood, Tom Gray, and Chawn Clough. And his second family of friends at Northern Lights Casino.
Celebration of Life will be held at Northland Alliance church in Remer MN. On Saturday, Oct. 19th. Visitation at 12:00, Service at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Levi Magruder officiating.
