   Cass County Sheriff’s Office will be participating in the DEA National Rx Takeback Day on Saturday October 26th, 2024.  This is an opportunity for community members to clean out medicine cabinets and turn in unneeded medications for safe disposal in your communities.  No syringes, needles or “sharps”, mercury thermometers or cancer treatment medications can be accepted.

   On Saturday, October 26th, Cass County Sheriff’s Office will be at Pillager Sylvan Township Hall 10am-12pm located at 12956 24th Ave SW in Pillager; at Longville Fire Hall 10:00am-11:30 am located at 1350 County Road 5 in Longville; and at Federal Dam Fire Hall 12:30pm-2:00pm located at 36 2nd Ave in Federal Dam.  

   National Rx Takeback Day and Take it To The Box medication disposal programs promotes the safe use, safe storage and safe disposal of unneeded over-the-counter medications, prescriptions and narcotic drugs at no charge from community members.  Prescription opioid misuse is one of the most common types of illegal drug use in the United States. Many people who misused prescription pain-reducing medicine said that they got it from a friend or relative. Keeping unused opioids in the home creates a serious health risk, especially if teens or children live with or visit you. The Cass County community is serious about preventing medication misuse/abuse and about healthy, environmentally safe disposal of unneeded medications. Safe medication disposal helps reduce such risks in the communities.  

   Also available in Cass County, are permanent Take it To The Box medication disposal boxes that located at the Cass County Sheriff’s Office 303 Minnesota Avenue West in Walker; Cass Lake City Hall/Law Enforcement Center at 330 2nd Street NW in Cass Lake; Lake Shore City Hall/Law Enforcement Center 8583 Interlachen Road in Lake Shore; and Pine River City Hall/Law Enforcement Center 200 Front Street North in Pine River drop off during normal business hours.
