   Walker MN- Cass County Board of Commissioners and Cass County Opioid Settlement Committee of the Board and Cass have re-opened Opioid Settlement Fund Applications to Remediation Opioids in Cass County, MN, beginning October 1, 2024, with a maximum of $50,000 per applicant until a maximum of $400,000 are allocated or until December 31, 2024, whichever is first.  Community organizations and partners are invited to apply including schools, health care providers, treatment and recovery providers.

   Cass County is looking to use the funds to help establish new, sustainable programs or to expand existing programs that will aid the community in remediation of opioids. The eligible areas of focus are harm reduction, prevention, criminal justice, and treatment and recovery.

   The funds will be competitive, with applications reviewed by a committee of professionals with a broad range of relevant experience along with applicants providing a brief presentation.  No matching funds are required. The applications for the funds are available on the Cass County website www.casscountymn.gov and an Opioid Abatement Strategies by Sector guide for more information. Applications should be submitted by email. Recipients of the funds will be announced at monthly Cass County Board meetings.

The funding is provided by a multi-million-dollar settlement with the state of Minnesota with opioid distributors and manufacturers. Cass County is expecting to receive $3.3 Million between 2022 and 2038.
