Herman Bertleson and family have moved back to their place on Townline Lake.
Hackensack is experiencing a small sized epidemic of Scarlet Fever.

Nov. 26, 1949
Russell Vernon Nyvall and Helen Eloise Felton were married November 20.
Peggy Tabaka who is attending school in Chicago is spending the weekend with her parents, John and Jean Tabaka.
The first dance at the VFW building will be held November 26 with the popular band, the Night Hawks.

Nov. 28, 1974
Twenty-two men from Hackensack agreed to charter a Lions Club. An organizational meeting will be held on December 5th.
Barney Durkee has sold the Federal Dam liquor store and will be turning the business over to the new owner on December 1st. He is returning to California.
Mr. Wilbur Haire has moved into the Lake Region Motel for the winter months.

Wesley Gish moved to Boy River when he was 7 years old. He worked in the woods and was a guide on Leech Lake. He was in the CCCs in 1934-35. He was awarded the Purple Heart in the South Pacific and Philippines in WWII. He married Doris Countryman in 1951. He was employed by the Army Corps of Engineers from 1959-1976.
Ted Tobiason, 87, born in Federal Dam in 1912 attended Twin Lakes Country School and Remer High. He owned a dairy farm and went into the sawmill business with his brother Henry. He married Edna Hubbard in 1942.
