MNsure open enrollment for 2025 Health Insurance plans begins
ST. PAUL, Minn.—MNsure, Minnesota’s official health insurance marketplace, is now open for Minnesotans to enroll in quality, comprehensive coverage for 2025. MNsure’s open enrollment period is the annual opportunity for Minnesotans who need health insurance to shop, compare options and sign up for coverage.
Open enrollment runs from November 1 through January 15, 2025, but there’s an important deadline in December. Consumers must enroll in a plan by December 18, 2024, for coverage that starts New Year’s Day.
“Quality health coverage continues to be more affordable for Minnesota families, but too many of our neighbors are still without insurance and even skipping necessary health care,” said MNsure CEO Libby Caulum. “If you need health insurance and don’t know where to turn, start at MNsure.org.”
MNsure is the only place where Minnesotans can find savings to reduce their health care costs, including discounts (tax credits) and other forms of financial help. Eligible households are expected to save an average of $561 per month on their health insurance premiums next year with discounts available through MNsure.
All Minnesotans can continue to find a plan with premiums that cost no more than 8.5% of their annual household income, thanks to federal laws that capped the cost of premiums for the benchmark plan through 2025.
Find the right health plan through MNsure
“With over 250 medical and dental plans available for next year through MNsure, we understand that finding the right health insurance plan can be a challenge – which is why we’re excited to offer Easy Compare plans for the first time in 2025,” added Caulum. “Easy Compare plans give consumers an apples-to-apples comparison between insurance companies so families can choose a plan based on what’s most important to them, whether that’s keeping a favorite doctor in-network, choosing a premium that fits their budget, or finding the best coverage for a prescription drug.”
Consumers can learn more about Easy Compare plans at mnsure.org/easycompare.
Minnesotans can get help with their MNsure application and enrollment from an expert at no cost. MNsure-certified brokers are health plan experts who can answer questions, give advice, and help choose the right plan. Navigators work at local, trusted community organizations and specialize in helping Minnesotans with lower incomes enroll in free or low-cost insurance through Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare.
Both types of assisters are ready to help in person, over the phone or by virtual meeting. Consumers can connect with a local, trusted broker or navigator by searching MNsure’s Assister Directory (mnsure.org/free-help).
All health plans sold through MNsure guarantee coverage for benefits like doctor’s visits, prescribed medications, mental health care, maternal and newborn care, emergency services and more. Shopping through MNsure is the best way for Minnesotans to make sure they’re getting high-quality insurance that covers important care if an accident or illness happens, provides free preventive care to stay healthy and includes consumer protections like no discrimination based on gender or pre-existing conditions.
