The Frank Simpson family have moved into Mrs. Miller’s house in Federal Dam.
Lamont Crandall and Grace Tabaka received their diplomas from Pine River High School.
Ralph Felton and Frank Beckman are putting down a well for W.R. Walker at Wabedo.
75 Years Ago
May 20, 1949
Mary Erickson died May 11th at her home. She had lived in Walker for 40 years and operated Aunt Mary’s Rest Home for many years.
Edward Barbeau, a former resident of Federal Dam, Boy River, and Remer, died of a heart attack from overexertion fighting a forest fire. He was a former lumber camp cook.
The Busy Beaver Club of Boy River have just about finished their boathouse.

May 23, 1974
Terry Likens was an overnight guest at the Floyd Tweder home as he helped Floyd on the milk route on Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. Dean Engen report that they have purchased the Locke farm west of Remer.
Members of the Remer Arts & Crafts Shop are busy getting ready for seasonal business.

A memorial to our war dead will be dedicated Monday at the Ponto Lake cemetery. It was constructed by Dane Zenner.
Harry Hoff was a stained-glass craftsman and served as a US Army Combat Engineer in the Philippines. He moved to Remer in 1950 and commuted to St. Paul from his home at Fireside Lodge. Several of his windows are at the Longville Clinic. He died at age 92.
Olive “Tiny” Weyer, 77, was born to Harry and Lucy (Moss) Camp in Boy River. She was married to Vern Weyer for more than 50 years. She died May 15th in Texas.
