   Tom Kutschied’s Featured Artist’s Show “From Sea to Shining Sea” opens at the Longville Lakes Arts Center on Friday, August 2nd with a reception from 7 to 9 p.m. Come and greet Tom and see his oil paintings of our country’s landscapes, wildlife and patriotic images. The show runs through September 7th. The Arts Center is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10am to 4pm. 

   Tom was born and raised in Red Wing, Minnesota. He has a B.A. in Art Education from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. Tom is a Vietnam Veteran who received commendations for his Air Force service. He taught art for 32 years in Mesa, Arizona before retiring to Longville 16 years ago.

   Many Longville residents and visitors know Tom from his fine oil paintings, the painted windows around town and because of his philanthropy. His wildlife oil paintings have received numerous honors including Best of Show, Jaques Art Center Juried Art show, First place oil painting Jaques Art Center show; 3 second places and 2 third places MN DNR Habitat Stamp competitions; MN Artists Association 1st place, Best of Show, favorite of all other participating artists; Artist of the Year Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and National Wild Turkey Federation. He volunteers with the Arts Center, the Longville Area Community Foundation, the Chamber of Commerce and has served as an officer of VFW Post 772. In 2022, he was honored as the Grand Marshall of the Longville July 4th Parade. Tom often donates paintings to be auction off for local charities. Currently, in conjunction with the Longville Chamber of Commerce, his is giving Paws and Claws the fee he charges to paint a portrait of your pet.
