Joan Karee (McCarthy) Evenson, age 84 of Waseca, died on Sunday, June 30, 2024 at Foxdale Memory Care in Waseca.
Joan was born in Waseca on December 27, 1939 to parents Robert Manly and Signa Marie (Johnson) McCarthy. She attended school in Waseca and graduated from Waseca High School with the class of 1957. On a very cold December 29th, 1962, she was married to Charles Arthur Evenson at the “Little Brown Church” in Nashua, IA. She worked at the E.F. Johnson company in Waseca for a time, then in 1981 Joan earned her broker’s license to work in real estate. In 1996, Joan and Charlie moved to their home of 21 more years between Hackensack and Longville in north-central Minnesota where they both continued working. After a very successful 30 years in the real estate business both she and Charlie retired, and in 2017 they returned to Waseca together. Joan enjoyed reading, was a former member at St. John Lutheran in Waseca, and was a current member of Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca.
Joan is survived by her husband, Charles of Waseca; three children, Stacey Evenson of Waseca, Sheila Eberline of Brainerd, and Todd Evenson of Hackensack; one granddaughter, Camryn Eberline of Maryland; and one sister, Kathleen Porter of Luther, OK. She was preceded in death by both of her parents.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 5, 2024 at the State Street Chapel of Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral and Cremation Service in Waseca, Rev. Jillene Gallatin officiated. Interment at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.
