Charles “Lee” Winans

b. Dec. 10, 1967 d. Aug. 29, 2023

Charles “Lee” Winans, a beloved husband, father, son, and friend, passed away on August 29, 2023 at the age of 55 in his home in St. Michael, Minnesota. He was born on December 10, 1967, in Carmel, California, to his parents, Charles Sr. and Jane (Skadsburg) Winans. Lee’s departure leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.

He married the love of his life, Kim (Johnson), in a beautiful ceremony at St. Helena’s Catholic Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in October of 1993. Their union was blessed with the birth of their four children

A devoted father, Lee spent countless hours coaching his children in basketball and baseball. He was their biggest fan and a constant source of encouragement and support in all their endeavors.

Lee was deeply committed to his faith and community. He volunteered as a parish festival volunteer and served as a Eucharistic Minister at his church, exemplifying his dedication to helping others and nurturing his spiritual connection.

Lee had an extraordinary talent for pumpkin carving and was renowned for his creativity during Halloween. His intricate designs never failed to amaze family and friends, bringing joy to the holiday season.

One of Lee’s greatest joys in life was spending time at the family cabin, where he would regale everyone with his “tall tales” around the campfire. His storytelling was legendary, and his tales will continue to be cherished by those who were fortunate enough to hear them.

An avid outdoorsman, Lee found solace in hunting, fishing, and golfing. His appreciation for nature’s beauty was evident in every adventure he embarked upon.

But perhaps Lee’s most enduring legacy is his boundless love for people. Known for his tenderhearted and goofy personality, Lee had a smile that could brighten even the darkest of days. He had an uncanny ability to strike up conversations with anyone and would readily lend an empathetic ear to those in need. He made friends wherever he went and had an incredible knack for making people feel valued and heard.

Charles “Lee” Winans leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and kindness that will be remembered and cherished forever. He is survived by his loving wife of thirty years, Kim; children, Andrew (fiancé, Taylor Tatro), Meghan, Matthew and Charlie; brother, Ron (Andrea) Winans; nephew, Cade and niece, Bella; half-sister, Lynn Talab and a host of family and friends.

Visitation for Lee will be held Monday, September 11, 2023 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at The Peterson Chapel, 300 Main Street N., St. Michael, MN.
