There’s spooky fun to be had in the Lakeland! Ghouls and ghosts of all ages will be lurking this Halloween for family-friendly fun. Area communities have planned safe Halloween trick-or-treating events for kids.

Longville

Camp Olson YMCA will be hosting it’s Halloween Spooktacular event Saturday, Oct. 28 from 4 to 6 p.m. Come out for a fun evening of trick or treating from cabin to cabin. Wear costumes and be ready for fun and fright and bring a donation to support the Longville Area Food Shelf. Hatch Burrito Co. food truck will be on-site from 4 to 7 p.m. with delicious food for purchase to keep you fueled for fun! All children must be supervised by a parent or guardian.

Remer

The 11th annual “Trunk or Treat” event returns this Halloween, Tuesday, Oct. 31, at the Northland School front parking lot from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m.!

In addition to frightening fun, there will be food, face painting, hayrides, candy and prizes for best costume and best decorated trunk. Come hungry as the Senior class will be serving sloppy joes for a free will donation! Don’t forget to stop downtown as Remer businesses will be open for trick or treaters.

Hackensack

The Hackensack Hub is hosting a community Halloween night on October 31. Instead of waiting at home for kids that may not come, bring your treats to the Hub! Tables and chairs are provided for you to use. Wear a costume to add to the fun!

Backus

Backus American Legion will be hosting a kids Halloween party Sat., October 28th from 11 a.m. until noon. The party includes pumpkin painting, crafts, games and candy for the kids!

The 30th annual adult Halloween party will be held on the night of the 28th, with hors d’oeuvres served at 8 p.m., and a costume contest at 9 p.m.

There will be multiple opportunities to be scared out of your wits by things you won’t be expecting! Halloween 2023 promises excitement and community with numerous frightening festivities. Watch out for goblins, gremlins and ghosts and have a safe Halloween!
