Remains found in house fire

   Cass County Sheriff Bryan Welk reports that at 2:09 a.m. on March 21st, 2023, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a house fire on 40th AVE SW (County Road 26) in Walden Township, rural Pine River, MN. 

   Deputies and responders arrived and found a residential home had been engulfed in fire, resulting in a total loss. The home’s occupants, an adult male and an adult female, were unaccounted for. A search of the residence was conducted and remains were located. Autopsies are scheduled with the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office and the fire investigation continues with the assistance of the State Fire Marshall’s Office. 

   Assisting at the fire scene were the Pine River Fire Department, Backus Fire Department, and North Memorial Ambulance.
