The Beat Goes On......

Our second turtle race is “in the can” as they say. We entertained 237 racers and using the math that we do...about 3 other folks with each racer...that means we hosted about 948 people, some little, some big in our little hamlet on Main Street!! No small feat!!!

The day was toasty, 90ish and the sun was shining bright!! The little ones had rosy cheeks from working hard at playing all the games. They had already visited the prize table with big eyes as they gazed on all that shiny loot, and knew what they were playing for. Along with our normal fun and games, we are instituting some changes that we think will make your turtle race day even MORE enjoyable!! We’ll have a “Man or Woman on the Street” engaging with the audience so we can find out even more good stories to share with you.

Resort race winner...

So,Wednesday, the announcer was asking who thought they had come the farthest for the races. There were states  called out from all over the union...and then a darling  little girl said...I’m from Cairns Queensland Australia.  Holy Cow..the crowd was stunned..and then cheered and clapped. We asked her Mom if she would tell us how Astrid happens to be here in little Longville, halfway around the world. She wrote this for us....“Astrid is back in Minnesota visiting her grandparents Barb and Bill. They live over in Breezy Point and really wanted us to head to Longville to check out the turtle races. Astrid is having a great time. She loves the carnival games, especially the fishing game. Thanks for having us!” How sweet is that?? And how fortunate for us that we get to create these memories.

We’ll see who we get to meet next week. Until then....remember..there is no place like Longville.
