Carlson Matches Three Point Record as Eagles Stretch Win Streak to 10
The Eagles circled the second and third week of January as a pivotal point in the season as they faced two of the top teams in Section 5A and will close it out with a game that will likely determine the Northern Lakes Conference champion against Deer River Friday, Jan. 27.
The first contest came against the Barnum Bombers, the top team in their subsection with a record of 10-4. Northland dominated the contest from start to finish with an 81-54 victory. To say Aiden Carlson was on fire wouldn’t do him justice. The senior finished 10-12 from three-point range and finished with a career high of 35 points. In doing so, he matched Jason Knapp for the record of three pointers in a game for Northland. Alec Wake had 15 points, eight rebounds, and nine assists. Nolan Carlson added 13 points to go along with nine assists.
The Eagles were back in action the next night, facing the Cromwell Cardinals. Cromwell came in with a solid 8-4 record and looked to be a tough match-up for Northland. Again, the Eagles dominated the game, finishing with a 74-34 victory. This time the Eagles went inside to score, shooting 30-47 inside the arc on a night when 3-pointers were not falling. Alec Wake led the Eagles in scoring with 22 points to go along with six rebounds and six assists. Aiden Carlson added 17 points and Nolan Carlson scored 14 points and 11 assists.
The Eagles face Deer River on Friday at home.
