After slow start, Eagles dominate Spartans
After a two-week layoff, the Northland Boys’ basketball team came into the new year looking to build on their 7-1 start. They did just that with a convincing 84-46 victory over the visiting Nashwauk-Keewatin Spartans.
The Spartans managed to keep the game close for most of the first half, but the Eagles picked up their defensive intensity and the shots started to fall. With a little over four minutes remaining in the first half the Eagles were trailing 28-30. Alec Wake knocked down a corner three that spurred an incredible 51-6 run that carried over into the second half. Wake was all over the court and finished with 36 points, 11 Rebounds, eight assists and five steals. Nolan Carlson had another great night with 17 points, six rebounds and 13 assists. The only other Eagle in double figures was Aiden Carlson with 10. Dylan Schwarz added seven points and Liam Wake and Jace Jackson both had six.
The Eagles host Littlefork Monday, January 9th in another Northern Lakes Conference battle as they look to remain unbeaten in league play.
