Hill City/Northland Storm girls basketball
The Storm girls basketball team hosted three games and had one away game before Christmas break.
First game brought International Falls to town for a 35-63 loss. Lainee Spangler scored nine points had seven rebounds, three steals and one assist. Seniors Tatum Peterson, Emma Finke and Michelle Smith put up six, five and nine points respectively, with Peterson having one rebound and Finke and Smith each pulling down four rebounds. Finke also had a steal during the game and three assists. Annika Spangler put up four points, six rebounds, one steal and two assists before succumbing to an injury.
The girls then hosted the Bigfork Huskies with a final score 37-57. Lainee topped the Storm offense with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Finke put in six points and came down with nine rebounds. Smith added a seven and nine boards.
The next day saw the Storm hosting a tough Sebeka team with another loss of 28-59. With the Storm still missing one of the Spangler sisters Lainee did her best by posting 20 points and seven rebounds. Other girls making the scoreboard was Morgan Humphrey, with four points and three rebounds and Peterson, with two points and four rebounds.
The final game before the Christmas break saw the girls traveling to Greenway where they fell to the Raiders 37-42. Lainee
topped the boards again with 15 points, six rebounds and one assist, while Bella Dunham had a strong evening with nine points, five rebounds and five steals. Imani Richey also stepped up to score six points, grab nine rebounds and get two steals. Finke walked away with four points, four rebounds and five steals.
The girls will travel to South Ridge, North Woods and Blackduck after the Christmas break before hosting another game at Remer.
