Julian (Julie) Arnquist
Julian (Julie) Arnquist was born on May 9th, 1927, to Dr. Andrew and Viola Arnquist. He attended St. Paul Johnson H.S. and enlisted in the navy at 17 (which required his parents’ permission). He was a proud WWII veteran. Upon returning he attended Hamline University to earn his teaching degree and later St. Thomas University for his two master’s degrees. In 1953 he married Jewel Willford which led to 69 years of marriage. They raised two sons, Tim and Erik.
Julie loved sports and went out for football, swimming, track and hockey in high school. He made all conference in hockey. In college he played football. He taught chemistry at South St. Paul H.S. where he coached swimming and football and eventually became Dean of Students. He also coached football at St. Thomas University.
Julie and Jewel enjoyed their summers at Half Moon Lake in Wisconsin with their many friends. In 2015 they moved to Longville, Minnesota, to be close to their family. Julie passed away peacefully on November 9th.
Julie will be joining his parents, two brothers and many friends. He’s survived by his wife Jewel, Tim (Kit) and Erik (Laurie) of Longville. There will be a private family ceremony.
