Cass County and State unofficial election results for Nov. 8, 2022 elections as reported by the Secretary of State’s website.
US Representative District 8 results saw R. Pete Stauber defeat DFL candidate Jen Schultz 188,070 to 140,433. State Senator for District 2 saw R. Steve Green defeat DFL candidate Leonard Alan Roy 20,395 to 13,590 votes. In District 5 R. Paul Utke defeated DFL A. John Peters 28,732 to 10,688. For District 6, R. Justin Eichorn topped DFL candidate Steve Sanuelson 26,218 to 15,045. DFL Governor, Tim Walz defeated Republican challenger Scott Jensen 1,311,604 to 1,119,171.
County Commissioner District 1 saw re-election of Neal Gaalswyk running unopposed with 2,734 votes. Cass County Commissioner District 4 saw incumbent Scott Bruns defeat challenger Steve Erickson 1,426 to 1,136 votes. Unchallenged Kathryn “Katie” M. Norby remains as County Recorder with 11,207 votes. Cass County Chief Deputy Bryan Welk defeated Lieutenant Chris Thompson 8,687 to 5,296 to capture the Cass County Sheriff position. County Attorney Ben Lindstrom ran unopposed with 11,014 votes. Soil and Water Supervisor District 1, unopposed Tomas Kuschel with 11,047 votes. Soil and Water District 5 saw Jennifer O’Neill was elected over Jon Osowski and Bob Wright with 5,026, 2,175 and 4,241 votes respectively.
In Longville, all candidates ran unchallenged with Floyd “Jocko” Kline re-elected Mayor and Greg Gilsrud and Phyllis Eck to the Council.
Remer results show unopposed Katelyn Edstrom will return to her City Council seat. Diane Ammerman, 94; and David Anderson, 84 votes fill the two available seats.
Hackensack city election results: Jim Schneider, 110 and Bruce Reeve 70 remain on the Council. Bernadean VanDyke defeated John Chuba 68-57 in a special election for the Council.
Boy River City Council: Marty Cummings and Mac Doms tied with four votes each to fill the two available positions. Robert Frederickson, 4 votes and Cindy Dickson, 3 votes are elected to the Council. Robert Fogle was unopposed for Mayor with 3 votes. Donna Wooley was elected City Clerk with four votes and McKenna Shepard was elected City Treasurer with three votes.
Federal Dam Mayor’s office went to Kenneth Raines with 37 votes over Rory Sherman’s 14 votes. On the City Council Michael Seivert topped Wanda Hardies by a single vote 27-26.
The Walker Mayor’s office was captured by Jerecho Worth with 241 votes to Annie McMurrin’s 201 votes. On the City Council MaryBeth Hansen received 276 votes and Jim Senenfelder to fill out the Council.
Three positions were available on the Walker-Hackensack-Akeley School District ISD#113 Board. Shannon Pfeiffer, Ben Jacobson and Keane Johnson were elected with 2,141, 1,955 and 1,485 respectively, defeating Kimberly Gendron, 1,400 and Samantha Bialozynski with 1,156 votes. In a special election to the board, Tristan Ehlenfeldt captured 2,812 votes.
Three positions were also up for grabs in the Northland ISD#118 School District. Incumbents Tyler Seifert, 1,323; Aaron Ammerman, 1,263 and Bill Wake, 1,199 retained their seats, defeating challengers David Kitchenhoff, 745 and James Dahl with 603.
