Carlson notches triple-double in Eagles 3-1 four game run
In a busy six days of action, the Northland boys’ basketball team went 3-1 with victories over Hill City, Bagley, and East Central with the lone loss coming to the Cherry Tigers.
The first game came against Hill City as the two teams renewed their friendly rivalry. The Eagles jumped out to a 61-38 halftime lead and cruised to a 94-67 victory over an improved Hornets team.
Leading the way for Northland was Alec Wake with 25 points. Aiden Carlson had 20 points and seven assists while Liam Wake and Nathan Johnson added 17 points each.
The following night, the Bagley Flyers came to Remer and ran into the hot shooting Eagles who made 18 3-pointers in a dominating 98-38 victory for the home team win. Alec Wake again led the scoring effort with 29 points including seven 3-pointers. Nolan Carlson completed the rare triple double with 23 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists in an excellent all-around game. Brother Aiden Carlson was nearly in triple double territory with 16 points, eight rebounds and 11 assists. Nathan Johnson added 13 points to round out the Eagles in double figures.
On Monday the Eagles welcomed the Cherry Tigers to town and in a hard-fought game, fell 80-68 to the top seed on Section 7A. The Eagles got to within seven points late in the second half but could not overcome Isaac Asuma and the rest of the Tigers pressure defense. Alec Wake had 18 points, Nathan Johnson had 16, Nolan Carlson 15, and Aiden Carlson finished with 12.
To finish up the four-game stretch, Northland traveled to East Central to face a scrappy team also known as Eagles. Again, the local team was white hot with Aiden Carlson draining nine out of the teams twenty 3-pointers to lead Northland to an 89-55 victory. Carlson finished with a career high 31 points to lead the way in scoring. Liam Wake had five 3-pointers and a layup to score 17 while Alec Wake also had 17 to go along with 10 rebounds, seven assists and four steals.
