Eagles with two dominating wins in recent action
The Northland Boys’ Basketball team is starting to hit its stride with two big wins over Ogilvie and Bigfork and posting a 9-1 record over their last ten contests. The Eagles offensive execution was beyond efficient in both games with the Eagles shooting a combined 60% while committing less than seven turnovers per game.
“This is how we are successful, shooting good shots and protecting the ball,” stated Eagle’s Coach Chris Carlson.
The Eagles jumped on Ogilvie early with pressure defense that produced several fast-break layups and a 56-24 halftime lead. Northland continued its strong play into the second half on their way to a final score of 102-46.
Leading the way for the Eagles was Alec Wake with 28 points, seven assists, and five steals. Nolan Carlson was right behind him with 23 points and Nathan Johnson had 17 points and 11 rebounds while Aiden Carlson added 15 points. Zaleyan Parise hit a pair of 3-pointers in late game action off the bench to put the Eagles over the century mark.
On Tuesday the Eagles welcomed the Bigfork Huskies to town and again it was defense that got things started. The Eagles forced 19 turnovers on the night as the Eagle guards led by Liam Wake put constant pressure on the Huskie backcourt to help Northland to a 46-21 halftime score. The second half saw more of the same as the Eagles cruised to an 84-53 victory.
Leading the way for the home team was Alec Wake with a career high 33 points with Nolan Carlson following up with 18 points, six rebounds, and seven assists. Aiden Carlson added 13 points and seven assists in another solid all-around game for the junior guard.
In a busy close to the week, the Eagles Face Walker on Thursday at home before traveling up the north shore to take on Silver Bay and Cook County on Friday and Saturday.
