Winter Festival/Mid-MN 150 return to Remer

  REMER – In conjunction with the Annual Mid Minnesota 150 Sled Dog Races, with legs between Outing and Remer, the Remer Area Chamber of Commerce and Remer Merchants invite area residents to take part in the Annual Festival of the Falling Snowflakes celebration, on Saturday, Feb. 12th.

   If you’re interested in learning about dogsledding, meeting some mushers, seeing some incredible athletes, watching the start of a race and enjoying the Minnesota winter, mushers will be on-site by 8:30 a.m. at Luschers Park on Lawrence Lake in Outing to answer questions, introduce you to their dogs, let you take pictures, etc.

   The six-dog recreational class (30 miles) will begin at Luschers Park on Lawrence Lake at 10:30 a.m. at two minute intervals and finish in Remer. The eight-dog pro class (40 miles) will start at the same location 30 minutes following the last six-dog team and will also finish in Remer around 3 p.m. at Bigfoot Gas and Gifts. The awards ceremony will take place at the conclusion of the race.

   The annual Remer Chili Feed and Cook-off Contest will take place at The Source, 104 Mill St. SW. Chili entries should be dropped off by 2 p.m. Chili will be served beginning at 3 p.m. for $10. Hot dogs will be available for the kids. Diners can vote on their favorite chili, everyone is encouraged to bring a healthy appetite!    Warm up at the bonfire near the Soo Line Trail and watch the mushers cross the finish line! Along with the bonfire, the Northland Lions will be selling all the fixings for s’mores.
