Michael K. Ekholm

  Michael K Ekholm, 70, of Remer, MN passed away peacefully Jan. 17, 2022, at his home overlooking Boy Lake with his children by his side. Born in San Diego, California Nov. 7, 1951, he resided in Minneapolis most of his life. 

   Mike was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth G Ekholm and Yvonne L Ekholm, stepfather Tom J Buttrey and his former wife Wendy Ekholm. 

   He is survived by his son Michael (Christina) Ekholm, daughter Melissa (Chris) Hoffer and grandchildren Kenneth and Stacie; siblings Steven (Jane) Ekholm and Pamela (Timothy) Bostwick. 

   The family sincerely thanks St. Croix hospice of Grand Rapids, MN for making his transition comfortable. Mike was the best father ever and the kindest man you ever met. He graduated from Richfield High school and then attended college at the University of Minnesota. He spent his working years driving a truck, following in the footsteps of his uncle and his father joined them shortly thereafter. He loved to be “at the lake,” loved westerns and loved his family. He will be greatly missed.
