Alice Marie Yochum
Alice Marie Yochum, 93, of Longville MN, passed away peacefully Friday, April 8, 2022, at Edgewood May Creek Assisted Living and Memory Care Center in Walker, MN.
Alice was born December 16, 1928, in Walker, MN, to Leon and Marie (Mellon) LaVallee. She grew up in Hackensack MN, graduating in her class (of 8) from Hackensack High School in 1945. After high school she worked at area resorts and the Longville Hotel.
May 29, 1948, she married Howard Yochum of Longville. They moved to White Bear Lake, MN, in 1949, where they raised their family, and remained until Howard’s retirement from 3M in 1987. Howard and Alice then moved back “home” to the Yochum Farm near Longville where they enjoyed special years with family and friends. They were both very active in the Longville snowmobile club and members of St. Edwards Catholic Church.
Whether cooking in the kitchen at St. Pius X to send her boys to school or maintaining the household she always tried to “do her best.” Alice also enjoyed anything that involved music, snowmobiling, camping, and working in her yard. Her many May Creek friends will remember Alice as “a talker with a great sense of humor.” The rest of us will remember the same, but of course, make sure that you considered both her family and her ideas as well.
Alice is survived by children: Gary (Diana) Yochum, Robert (Germaine) Yochum, William (Lynette) Yochum; twelve grandchildren: Cheryl, Barbara, Mathew, Mark, Sarah, John, Amy, Anne, Matthew, Daniel, Anton, and Madison; twenty-one great grandchildren; close niece, Kathie, and many nieces and nephews.
We wish to thank all the people at May Creek who provided highly skilled and loving care over the last several years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers: Leon, William (Bud), Gene, and grandson, Michael.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 A.M. with the Funeral Mass at Noon on Friday, May 13, 2022, at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Longville with Father Keith Bertram officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Longville.
