Woodrow Township Board
To the Editor,
I resigned my position of Clerk at the March annual meeting. My letter said because of health concerns I had to resign. I did not mention that the health concerns were brought on by the stress caused by one supervisor. One of the other supervisors also was having the same problem because of stress. He was quite visibly shaken at the meeting on May 5 because of the things that were happening in the meeting.
In the middle of the meeting one resident (who is not an attorney) had some things to say about how the board was conducting their business. He made a comment about each supervisor; however, when he came to one supervisor, he told him that he must resign immediately because it was a conflict of interest for him to be on the board. The supervisor (most of you on gravel roads would recognize him because he drives the road grader) walked out of the meeting.
After speaking with the Minnesota Association of Townships attorney I found out that the supervisor was not in violation as stated. Anyone can demand that someone resign but legally cannot make them. The only people who can remove a supervisor are Judges and the electorate.
I ask again, do you care? If not please continue to do nothing. If you do care please start attending your township board meetings to see what is happening. The next Woodrow Township meeting is June 2 at 7:00pm at the Woodrow Town Hall.
If you wish to see the minutes from any of the meetings go to the township website: woodrowtwpmn.govoffice2.com. Should you want to see the March and April minutes, contact the new clerk.
