William "Bill" Phillips

b. Dec. 27, 1946 - d. Aug. 23, 2010

JACKSON - William "Bill" Noel Phillips, was born on December 27, 1946 in Muscatine, Iowa the son of Floyd Noel and Juanita Ann (Cochran) Phillips. He graduated from Muscatine High School in 1963 and later attended college at Upper Iowa and Iowa State.

After his education, he worked for Kent Feeds of Muscatine, Iowa in the Junior Feeder Department helping 4-H youth with their cattle projects throughout the United States. He moved into the sales department at Kent Feeds in the early 1970's working in Northwest Iowa then moving to Southwest Minnesota in 1975. He was united in marriage to Sandra Lu Holthe on October 23, 1976 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lakefield. He worked for TELMAC Enterprises of Jackson in their hog and farming operation. In 1981, they moved to Cody, Nebraska, where he was a cofounder of High Plains Genetics. They owned Quarter Circle W Cattle Company - )W(, working with 4-H youth and cattle ranchers throughout Nebraska, North and South Dakota. In 1986, they moved back to Jackson. He went to work for Town and Country Agency selling insurance. In 1989, he established Phillips Agency, Inc., serving the agricultural community that he loved. Bill passed away at his home in Jackson on Monday, August 23, 2010 at the age of 63 years, 7 months and 27 days.

Bill was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, where he had served on the Church Council, President of the Congregation and had been an usher. He coached in the Jackson Athletics for Youth (JAY) football program as well as coaching many of his son's T-ball and baseball teams. He was active with the JAY wrestling program, traveling thousands of miles in busses and cars with youth wrestlers. He loved mentoring kids in their 4-H livestock projects. Watching and supporting JCC football and baseball was a passion. He enjoyed fishing on Leech Lake and Lac Suel, Twins baseball and Vikings football. He cherished spending time with his family and friends at the cabin on Woman Lake, sharing the blessings he had received. His sons and grandsons were the pride and joy of his life.

Bill is survived by his wife of 33 years, Sandy Phillips of Jackson; 2 sons, Shane Noel (Amery) Phillips of Jackson and Anthony Noel Phillips of Jackson; and 2 grandsons, Tatum Brent Noel Phillips and Linkon William Noel Phillips.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and great nephews, Cooper and Jack Schoenfeld.
