The Deer River/Northland (DRN) War-Eagles hit the road Thursday to Greenway/Nashwauk-Keewatin (GNK) to take part in a 12 school track and field meet. International Falls dominated all girls efforts and finished with an impressive 139 points, followed by Mesabi East with 110 and GNK with 98. DRN finished in 10th position in the meet.

Individually for the girls, Kristina Harder led DRN in the 200m dash with a time of 31.04 and in the 300m hurdles placed fifth in 54.37. DRN finished in 11th place in 4x100m relay in 1:00.71. Sophia Rajala placed third in high jump with J4-10.00 and Donna Velishek took top honors in pole vault with an 8-00 vault. Danielle Maki placed ninth in shot put with 29-03.00, then proceeded to take second in discus with 89-07.

The boys cracked the top ten in scoring and finished in eighth position. Virginia took the top spot with 111 points, followed by Crosby-Ironton with 99 and Eveleth-Gilbert with 95.

Individually for the boys, Jordan Perkins finished fifth in 110m hurdles with 20.43. Kevin Drotts placed fourth in the 300m hurdles in 45.77 followed by teammates Kristin Miller and Perkins in ninth and tenth respectively. DRN finished sixth in the 4x100m relay in 51.71 and eighth in 4x200m relay in 1:52.70. In the pole vault, Drotts took first place with a 13.00 vault, followed by Eric Ortloff in ninth with 8-00. Drotts also finished fifth in long jump with 17-04.25 and fifth in triple jump with 36-01.50, right behind teammate Austin Saxon in fourth with 36-04.25.[[In-content Ad]]
