War Eagles track travels to Greenway/Nashwauk/Keewatin


The Deer River/ Northland (DRN) Boys Track Team finished fifth with 68 points as it traveled to the Greenway/Nashwauk/Keewatin (GNK) meet in Nashwauk on April 7.

International Falls topped the scoring with 179.5 points, Virginia followed with115, Cromwell third with 99.5, GNK fourth with 83, DRN, Mesabi East with 59, Bigfork 45, Chisholm 32 and Mountain Iron/Buhl 4.

Individual DRN results at Nashwauk include:

William Haubrich finished third in the 100 meter dash and sixth in the 200 meter dash. Kevin Drotts finished seventh in the 400 meter dash followed by Kristen Miller and Trey Kelley in ninth and tenth, respectively. Jake Spartz crossed the line in sixth position in the 800 meter run. In the 3200 meter run, Haden Evans finished eighth.

In the 4x400 meter relay, the boys finished in fourth place with an overall time of 9:54.66.[[In-content Ad]]Kelley finished sixth in the high jump with a 5-01.00 leap. Drotts bested the field in the pole vault with 12-00.00. Marshall Stay lept 15-04.75 in the long jump, good enough for fifth place. In the triple jump he went 33-03.50 into fifth place, followed by Noah Kaczor at 33-02.75. Chris Scheidt finished fourth with a distance of 37-04.50 in shot put and notched up a fifth place finish in discus with 101-00.

The Lady War-Eagles carded a sixth place finish at the meet with a team total of 61 points. GNK led the way with 170, I-Falls followed with 149, Virgina 90, Mesabi East 81, Cromwell 67.5, DRN, Bigfork 33.5, Mountain Iron-Buhl 16 and Albrook/ Cotton/Cherry/Towe with 1.

In the 100 meter dash, Sierra Likens finished fourth with a time of 14.69 followed by Korin Archer in ninth in 15.04 seconds. The 200 meter dash saw Likens finish tenth with 32.00 with Teja Amy right behind her in 32.37. The 400 meter dash had Sarah Dodd in seventh place in a time of 1:14.17. In the 800 meter run, Makendra Anderson crossed the line in 2:47.02 for sixth place, followed by Kristina Harder in seventh in 2:47.52. In the 1600 meters, Kacey Trout finished fourth in 6:06.11 and Alison Juntunen crossed in sixth place at 6:27.22.

At 3200 meters, Ashley Trout finished sixth in 14:51.54. In the 300 meter hurdles, Kacey Trout finished seventh in 58.19. The 4x100 meter relay saw the ladies finish fourth in a time of 1:00.98.

In the high jump, Sophia Rajala cleared 4-01.00, good enough for fourth place. The long jump saw Archer take seventh position with a 11-06.25 leap.

Danielle Maki finished fourth in the triple jump clearing 28-05.75. She also took seventh place in shot put with 27-08.00, followed by Emily Trout with 27-07.00.
