The History of Virginia Haskell - By Virginia Haskell
"I was born on November 14, 1918 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to James and Catherine Haskell. When I was around three years old my parents moved to a small farm in Longville, which is in Northern Minnesota. My father was also a brick layer - stone mason and was gone from home a good deal because of work opportunities in larger areas. I grew up and attended school in Longville until my senior year in High School. There was no senior year in Longville and so I graduated from Central High School in Minneapolis. I attended one year at Northwestern Bible School and then entered Nurses Training at the University of Minnesota. At that time General Hospital and the University Of Minnesota School Of Nursing were combined. I was located at General Hospital in the three year program. Following graduation in 1943, I continued to work at General Hospital until 1949 when I joined Veteran's Administration and was employed at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Knoxville, Iowa for two and one half years. At this time I returned to the University of Minnesota and earned my B.S. in Public Health Nursing. I was employed by Family and Nursing Service in Saint Paul for two years after which I worked for the Minneapolis Public Schools as a school nurse. I retired in 1974.
I have been a member of First Baptist Church of Minneapolis since 1965. I became a Christian when I accepted Christ as my Savior when I was sixteen years old. Although I haven't always been faithful in following Him, He has always been loving and forgiving of my failures.
My parents preceded me in death as well as an older brother and a younger brother. I am survived by several nieces and nephews and my First Baptist Church family and friends."
Albin Chapel of Eden Prairie handled the arrangements.
