Use the school property to bring good paying jobs to town
To the Editor,
Come on people. It's just another empty building, in another Minnesota small town, that has no future. From what I read in the paper, the building is deteriorating faster than monies can be collected for it's upkeep. And if that is really so, then yes, maybe it should be torn down.
Also, What is really best for the community? and what has been tried, and failed? We can't keep the buildings full as it is! Businesses are going under (or just barely hanging in there). And why, because there isn't any reason for people to come to Longville to shop, they can get their goods cheaper elsewhere.
What Longville needs, is jobs. Something that will get people to move into the area, and shop locally. But, there is such a small customer base, that when any new business tries to start up, they are driven out due to fierce competition, and survival of the fittest. Or, they can't even get their foot in the door, because they're denied permissions from the elected officials in charge (who are also business owners). This is not good for the town. the town should be allowed to grow.
So I say, use the property to build something that will bring real, good paying jobs to the town, like manufacturing (or the like) where you can ship your product to be sold. The community center can come later when the town develops a larger taxpayer base.
These are just my Ideas, take them as you will. I just hope that someday we can all come together with our own ideas of priorities, and what's best for the community , and put aside the bickering and personal attacks. This too, is not good for the town.
