Unofficial 2016 General Election results announced
Donald J. Trump achieved victory against Hillary Clinton in the presidential election.
The Minnesota Secretary of State posted the following election results: Seat 5, Justin Eichorn (REP) defeated previous seat holder Tom Sazhaug (DFL) 20,245 to 19,700. Seat 9, Paul Gazelka (REP) defeated Jason Weinerman (DFL) 27,738 to 11,188.
State Representative for District 5A: Matt Bliss (REP), 10,326 votes to previous Rep. John Persell (DFL), 8,818. District 5B: Sandy Layman (REP), 11,499 votes to Rep. Tom Anzelc (DFL), 9,011.
U.S. Rep. Rick Nolan will keep his 8th District Congressional Seat after a close race by challenger Stewart Mills with 179,108 to 177,083 votes.
The Minnesota Constitutional Amendment authorizing a council to establish salaries for legislators had passed.
