Tim was born August 27, 1958 in Kankakee, Ill. to Thomas and Ann (McDonald) Murphy. At a young age his family moved to Hopkins, Minn., where he spent his growing up years, graduating in 1976 from Hopkins-Eisenhower High School. Following high school he attended St. Cloud State University's Criminal Justice Program, graduating in 1981, and in 1982 from the State Patrol Academy in the Twin Cities.
On August 20, 1982 Tim married his high school sweetheart, Charlene Sewall, at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Minnetonka. They lived in Chaska prior to their move to Longville in 1997. Tim worked as a State Trooper until his retirement in 2008, and then worked for the City of Longville.
Tim will be remembered for his love of people, and used his leadership ability and servant heart for community advancement. He was a great cook, an avid outdoorsman; enjoying hunting, fishing, baseball, boating, and snowmobiling. He always made it a priority to be at his son's sporting events, and was a patient teacher and coach. Tim will be remembered as a loving and loyal husband, father, son, friend and colleague. His influence and presence will be missed.
Tim is survived by wife of 28 years, Charlene; his two sons, Brian and Kevin; parents, Ann and Tom Murphy, siblings; Patty (Mark), Tom (Therese), Mary (Carl), and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
