Susan first worked at Arlan's Department Store, proudly her first union job. She also worked for the dental office of Dr. Kulas in Milwaukee and the dental office of Dr. Werwie in Sheboygan, Marc's Big Boy Restaurant in Sheboygan and finally at Wigwam Mills. Susan loved the social aspect of bartending as she was a bartender at various places along the way.
Susan's grandchildren were a source of great pride and joy. She loved to spend time making cookies with, and for, them and always spoiling them. In her earlier years she enjoyed miniature bowling, camping, a friendly brat fry as well as live music and dancing. She was also a member of the Crooked Lake Sports Club and the Crooked Lake Yacht Club during many years at Hoeft's Resort. Susan was a strong and vocal advocate for workers' rights. She lobbied for organized labor unions regularly and led the way in many of their campaigns and discussions as a Member and Officer of the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 147-T, also as a Delegate and Executive Board Member to the Sheboygan County Labor Council AFL-CIO. In January 2018, Susan was awarded the honor of Sheboygan County AFL-CIO 2018 Labor Person of the Year.
