Storm top Wrens 14-13

The Hill City-Northland Storm topped the Wrenshall Wrens by a point in a home field match-up. The Storm jumped out to a 14-7 halftime lead with the defense stepping up to slow the Wrenshall offense, allowing no passing yards at all and two interceptions - both by Vinny Ruschmeier.

On offense, it was a balanced attack, with the passing game accounting for 119 yards and a pair of touchdowns and the rushing game accounting for 219 yards. Cameron Wake went 7 for 13 passing, 119 yards and two touchdowns. Dane Sepin led the way rushing with 117 yards on 22 carries. Vinny Ruschmeier had seven carries for 23 yards and two receptions for 57 yards and a touchdown. Tucker Holm had nine carries for 39 yards and two receptions for 34 yards and a touchdown. The offensive line of Johnathan Gowell, Eli Murray, Matt Clarke, Carter Ammermann, and Bentley Jenkins made some huge holes for the team as well.

On defense, Sepin led the team in tackles with four solos and 12 assisted tackles. Ruschmeier had three solos, eight assisted tackles, and two interceptions. Lucas Daugherty had one solo and eight assisted, along with a fumble recovery. Henry Moes had one solo, five assisted tackles, and a sack.

Overall, it was a great team victory with many great individual performances. The game was very physical and well played by both teams. It was a great way to start the season. Friday, the Storm take on Floodwood in Hill City at 7 p.m.[[In-content Ad]]
