Storm fall to Tigers, defense preserves victory over Huskies
Nevis is one of the top ranked teams in the state and the Storm played toe to toe up front early in the contest, however the defense gave up a pair of big pass plays that put points on the board for the Tigers. The Storm put up 64 yards rushing in the first quarter but were unable to find the end-zone. The Tigers took control in the second half and by the fourth quarter the reserves finished the game for both sides. A couple of bright spots for the Storm was their ability to compete on the offensive and defensive lines and freshman Vinny Rushmeier broke off a 55-yard touchdown run for a touchdown.
The Storm took an early 8-0 lead over Isle after recovering a fumble in the Huskie end-zone for a quick six, then converting on the two-point conversion. The win would not come without sacrifice when senior fullback and linebacker Brendon Gould went down in the second quarter with a severe ankle injury. The defense stepped up with their best performance of the season, shutting down the Huskie offense to preserve the 8-6 victory.[[In-content Ad]]
