Snocross season ends with track and heat challenges for drivers
Brandon Herheim, Evan Daudt and Cole Cottew were invited to compete in the Sport Class from the Minnesota Affiliate. Cole Cottew, Lake Nebagamon, took 1st; Brandon Herheim, Woman Lake, stood in the 2nd place podium position; Tyler Adams, Arlington, took home the 3rd place trophy. Evan Daudt came in 4th.
In the Jr. 16-17 Class, the local racers finished: Cody Daudt 7th and Evan Daudt 8th; while Jr. 14-15 Class the local racers came in: Cody Daudt 4th and Tyler Daudt 6th.
Luckily the races were held on the ski hill at the Grand Geneva complex with several feet of snow. The ski hill staff made snow throughout the winter season, but with the warm temperatures, the snow took a beating this past week. The weather was unseasonably warm on Friday with temperatures reaching 82 degrees in Lake Geneva. Fans in the stands were wearing shorts, t-shirts, flip-flops and even a few swim suits while watching the Showdown at Sundown Snocross completion.

Saturday and Sunday presented the same high temperatures for the regular National racing schedule. Since the snow was so soft, the track continued to change during each race. Groomers came onto the track often trying to fill in the holes between races. Fortunately, the snow held up for the entire weekend, which allowed the racers to enjoy their last National completion for the season.
Brandon Herheim ended the season 18th and Evan Daudt 37th of the 143 registered racers in the National Sport Class. Brandon and Evan did not compete at all of the 15 venues this year, since travel would have included several hours to places like New York and Pontiac MI. Cody and Tyler competed at National venues, which are non-point, trophy only competitions.
Now local racers will find ways to stay in shape until their training and conditioning starts in the fall for the next Snocross season.
