Slow first half costs Lady Eagles at final buzzer
"We really played like we were half asleep in the first half," commented Head Coach Jenny Kovall. "We just couldn't get moving. We scored a decent amount of points but played lax on defense. No one was happy going into halftime down by 17."
After the halftime break, the girls picked up the pace and only allowed 14 points in the first 16 minutes. The ability is there and with more experience the wins will come.
"We need to put an entire game together and things will turn around. Three of the last four we should have won," said Coach Kovall. "We've got a tough schedule ahead of us and we're working hard on fixing some of the issues that are costing us wins."
Maddy Shepard scored a career high 31 points with four steals and three rebounds. Kristine Johnson added her first double-double of the season with 15 points, 15 steals with seven boards and four assists. Kali Wake chipped in five points with seven boards and five steals. Taylor Tschida poured in four.
The girls will take a break for the holidays and return to the hardwood on Jan. 4 against Cass Lake at home.[[In-content Ad]]
