Cass County Sheriff Tom Burch reports that on 9-14-2013 at approximately 01:56 AM the Cass County Sheriff's Office received a report of a motor vehicle accident with injuries on County Rd 71 in Hiram Twp, on the west side of Ten Mile Lake. Deputies and responders arrived and found that a single vehicle appeared to have lost control on a curve causing it to roll several times, ejecting the driver. The driver, a male, age 21, of Hackensack MN who was treated at the scene and transported to North Memorial via Aircare for serious injuries. The passenger, a female, age 19, also of Hackensack, MN, was treated at the scene. The Cass County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the MN State Patrol, Hackensack Fire and Rescue, Walker Fire Department, North Memorial Ambulance and Aircare. The investigation continues.

Cass County Sheriff Tom Burch reports that on 9-15-2013 at approximately 4:12 AM Cass County Sheriff's Office received a report of weapon fire in the Midway area of Onigum, near Walker MN. Deputies were in the area and located a van believed to be involved with the weapon fire. A short pursuit ensued and the van ran off the roadway and hit several trees. The driver, a male, age 37, of Walker was later arrested for Driving Under the Influence. Four juveniles that were in the vehicle were treated and transported for non- life threatening injuries. A rifle, shotgun and several rounds of ammunition were located in the vehicle. The Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Leech Lake Tribal Police and North Ambulance at the scene. The investigation continues and formal charges are pending.
