Robert Weldon Shaw

Robert Weldon Shaw was born in Grand Rapids, Minn., on March 3, 1940 to Glenn and Bernetta (Wahl) Shaw of rural Boy River, Minn. The family moved back and forth between the Boy River farm and southeastern Minnesota. The family operated a grocery store in Ostrander, Minn., for a few years. He attended school in Boy River and in LeRoy-Ostrander.
He married Lois Truempler from Deer River, in 1959. They lived in rural Boy River until moving to Remer in 1964. He had many businesses in the Remer area. He had an LP gas business, small engine shop and operated the Gulf station with his Dad. He also had a couple backhoe businesses. The last 15 years before retirement, he sold wild rice around the state.
Bob like to travel. He and Lois were able to travel around most of the western half of the U.S., Alaska, and Canada after retiring. Bob enjoyed hunting a lot in the earlier years, but found more enjoyment in feeding the critters in his backyard in recent years. Bob like fishing, spending time with his family and going to auction sales whenever he could.
He is survived by: his wife Lois (Truempler); daughters: Phyllis (Jerry) Ammerman of Akeley, Minn., Denise Shaw and Robin (Mark) Madden both of Remer; Grandchildren Matthew and Linsey Ammerman, Joshua and Tichelle Pound, Nathan Frank, Kimberly (Shayne) Loverink, Emmilu Shaw, great-grandchildren Konner and Annabella Pound.
He was preceded by: his parents, Glenn Elroy Shaw and Bernetta Ovida (Wahl) Shaw.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov 30, at the Congregational Church in Remer. Bural was at Fairview Cemetery in Remer.
Carroll Funeral Home, of Deer River, Minn., was in charge of arrangements.
