Retired VP of Sales at Nott Company in Minneapolis. Veteran of WWII (Navy). Member of Arcana Lodge, Scottish Rite, and Zuhrah Shrine. Most recently, Bob served as a Supervisor for Gould Township, MN. Throughout his many years, Bob lived his commitment to children as PTA president, high school Sunday School teacher, and tireless advocate of education. A graduate of Henry High School in Minneapolis, Bob furthered his love of learning at the U of M where he received a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering.
Bob never met a stranger. He enjoyed his retirement on the shores of Leech Lake where he built his log cabin, as he said, for three groups: family, friends, and dogs. A visit up north at the cabin guaranteed Bob's spinning a good yarn or two. And he loved hearing the same from his guests. Caring, kind, and a generous host to all, Bob will be deeply missed by many.
Preceded in death by parents Leslie Wilson and Edith Clark Wilson; sister Naomi Burkenstock; wife of 35 years, Janet Carlson Wilson; and longtime companion, Donnabelle Johnson.
Bob is survived by his sister Donna Hargarten; daughter Marsha (John) Zeyer; grandchildren Lindsay (Clay) Matvick and Robert Chall (fiancé Megan Wika); great grandchildren Jack, Katie, and Lucy Matvick; canine buddy, Cloud; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Memorials to celebrate Bob will be held in Federal Dam and also in Minneapolis in May. Details to follow.
The family welcomes donations to the Itasca Hospice Foundation (P.O. Box 5093 Grand Rapids, MN 55744); Zuhrah Shrine Hospital for Children; or the Ronald MacDonald House (U of M Minneapolis Campus).
