Dick's parents first purchased a vacation home in the Longville area in 1977 and the entire family soon fell in love with this warm and welcoming little town.
Dick and Sandy Cross married in 1984 and eventually moved up to Longville, MN permanently to a home on Lake Inguadona. Family and friends were always welcome to their lake home where hundreds of hours were spent talking and laughing out on the boat (as we all know there are no fish in that lake). One thing for sure, when you visited you were always welcomed and always full. When not busy hosting family and friends, Dick and Sandy were active in the community that they loved. They volunteered at the Information Booth, made many dear friends at the Young at Heart Senior Club and attended the Salem Lutheran Church.
It was less than two months ago that they moved back to the Lakeville area in order to receive the healthcare that Dick needed and to spend more time with family and friends. Unfortunately, the latter was not meant to be. Dick had surgery on June 21, 2017 and passed away surrounded by family members on June 22nd and in spirit by those family members who could not be at his side.
Dick was preceded in death by his son Dale, his parents Richard and Florence, and his brother Joseph. He is survived by his wife Sandy, his daughters Brenda (Tim Olson) and Barb Herrera, step children Patrick, Chad (Jaque), and Michelle Baker, brother Donald and Sisters Nancy and Jeanne (Larry Johnson). Also survived by his important fishing buddies and grandchildren Dale, Katie and Benjamin Visnovec, Amanda and Joey Herrera, Te'a, Max, Hanna and Lexi Baker. Lastly, two special great grandchildren Jordan and Aubrie Visnovec.
A celebration of Dick's life will be held at Christiania Lutheran Church (26691 Pillsbury Ave, Lakeville) on what would have been Dick's 80th birthday at 11:00 a.m. with a lunch and fellowship immediately following. Donations to the American Heart Association preferred in lieu of flowers.[[In-content Ad]]
