Public land auction date set for June 27
Parcels to be sold range from city lots to 80 acre tracts. A list of the parcels will be posted on the county web page, www.co.cass.mn.us, after May 15.
Minimum bids must be at least appraised value. Those values will be listed with the parcel description. Three parcels, which did not sell on prior sales, are being reappraised before this sale.
City lots being offered are in the cities of Pine River, Cass Lake, Bena and Remer.
Tuesday, Cass County commissioners approved an amendment to their Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) limited use permit to enable Shingobee Township to install an approach to a replacement fishing pier on Shingobee Island on Leech Lake south of Walker.
The board approved a permit without charge for the Chippewa Triathlon event to cross county tax forfeited land in Wilkinson Township south of Cass Lake June 13 on the condition no trees are cut or dirt moved and that event sponsors carry insurance holding the county harmless.
Lee Steigerwaldt won the contract to appraise land for $8,100 in Hiram and McKinley Townships. The county is interested in purchasing four parcels to increase accessibility to public land and protect critical habitat using state Lessard Sams Outdoor Heritage funding.
Precision Aviation LLC won the contract to provide color infrared aerial photographs of the northeast area of Cass County this summer with a $23,400 bid.
Cass sold seven of nine timber tracts offered for sale on a March 26 auction. Loggers paid $24.46 for aspen stumpage and $33.50 for oak.
