Progressive! Are You Smarter than a Sixth Grader?
To the Editor,
The last thing passion or propaganda contains is the "whole-truth and sound reasoning." Propaganda and or passion, is the mental glue to keep the adhesion of the collective conscience together and progressives use it liberally. You can't compromise or even reason with the brainwashed.
Passion driven discourse does not make for good law. Passion will and does cloud the ability for any individual to reason effectively and propaganda and passion are one in the same. Both will go so far as to invade another's conscience and violate their ability and right to reason for themselves.
Passion/propaganda is not the same as reason and can induce a mental stupor and therefore has no place in the legislative process. Senator Diane Feinstein is an excellent case in point of a passionate induced stupor. But this is the fundamental technique of progressive propaganda for government control of every aspect of our lives let alone our right to defend our life, liberty and pursuit of happiness with any gun we see fit to do the job.
The mistakes and evils committed day-in and day-out by humans upon humans is inevitable for reasons too numerous to mention. Although... a "public" education whose curriculum contains and promotes virtue and prudence would make a significant difference. But this would also make the majority value a republic form of government over the legal plunder of a democracy. Now think about why democrats prefer a democracy over a republic form of government if it is not the out-right theft of life, liberties and property by majority vote.
This is the state of our democrat controlled public education today and with reason can explain the mass murders committed in our public schools. What if these young people had access to a 12 year education that built character and prudence (self-control)? Maybe the assailant of Sandy Hook Elementary wouldn't have lost complete control of his conscience in a world where you are not allowed to have one of your own? He did say he just wanted to feel something.
CONSCIENCE, 1. Is the moral sense or that capacity of our mental constitution, by which we irresistibly "feel" the difference between right and wrong. 2. The constitution of the United States wisely provides that "no religious test shall ever be required." No man, then, or body of men, have a right to control a man's belief or opinion in religious matters, or to forbid the most perfect freedom of inquiry in relation to them, by force or threats, or by any other motives than arguments or persuasion. Vide Story, Const. 1841-1843. (Bouvier's Law Dictionary 1856 Edition)
Now take note of the insanity that a 6th grader can and has been expelled from school if caught drawing on paper or pretending to have a gun at school by forming it with his/her fingers. For this reason alone my less than 6th grade analogy of the progressives' intellect is justified and as insane.
Senator Feinstein's rebuttal to Senator Cruz's reasoned discourse gave us "her collective sense" of the constitutional concept of the 2nd Amendment and exposed "her" true intent as irrational as even a sixth grader with a paper gun would agree.
What is irrational on Senator Feinstein's behalf is she thinks herself of "superior compassion" as all progressives do as-their-doctrine. And if we all don't say "amen" to their collective conscience we as individuals, who respect the rights of others, are heretics and radicals, which is quite the contrary.
The American people have to understand that progressivism from its inception is the belief that society in and of itself constitutes "a living thing" with a "collective conscience" and it is the progressives' consciousness that is to prevail beyond any reasoning we are capable of doing for ourselves.
Herein lies, why they view our Constitution, as a living document. Progressivism is junk social science. Progressivism is derived from humanism and invokes a social conscience equivalent to any religion. (See, Auguste Comte's "religion of humanity", and Emile Durkeim the father of social consciousness and the social sciences.)
"All that progressives ask or desire," wrote Woodrow Wilson, "is permission -- in an era when development, evolution, is a scientific word -- to interpret the Constitution according to the Darwinian principle; all they ask is recognition of the fact that a nation is a living thing and not a machine."
It is from Comte, Durkheim and Wilson that the early concepts of sociology bore such a religious sense, a collective consciousness and the standard mindset for progressivism. Through this collective it now makes sense that democracy be their preferred model of government. If we are all thinking alike then we can vote alike and bring about such a power to do anything we can think to create (rights) or do (redistribute wealth).
Progressivism sounds good doesn't it? It also sounds like something that has been explained before. (See Genesis: 11, 1-9 the Tower of Babel) The only thing different this time is the tower is being allowed to be built with no sense of where it will stop before it finally collapses. Where or when does this progressive progress stop? Strangely enough just as in Genesis, John Dewey made this answer clear in the last few beliefs of his "secular religious" creed.
My Pedagogic Creed...
" I believe that when science and art thus join hands the most commanding motive for human action will be reached; the most genuine springs of human conduct aroused and the best service that human nature is capable of guaranteed.
I believe, finally, that the teacher is engaged, not simply in the training of individuals, but in the formation of the proper social life.
I believe that every teacher should realize the dignity of his calling; that he is a social servant set apart for the maintenance of proper social order and the securing of the right social growth.
I believe that in this way the teacher always is the prophet of the true God and the usherer in of the true kingdom of God." If this isn't what Thomas Sowell meant by "self-anointed intellectual" I don't know what is.
What the progressives have managed to achieve in the last century is an illusion of intellect combined with religion, disguised as social science, together educating the majority that democracy is different this time and will not commit suicide. Tell that to the victims of Sandy Hook Elementary.
It doesn't matter what Senator Feinstein's public service pedigree is... "A long habit of not thinking a thing wrong gives it a superficial appearance of being right." (Thomas Paine) Senator Feinstein has never been of her own conscience nor respected that of others. She has been duly indoctrinated by the religion of humanism and reacts in the same manner as an impassioned religious leader would at the pulpit.
The progressives' vacuous mindset of our Founding Fathers sound reasoning is staggering and alarming to say the least.
Moral obligations are of a personal responsibility to our-selves, our children and our Creator. Moral obligations are granted as the free exercising thereof by our freedom of religion. Protected by the 1st Amendment and if need be protected by force through the 2nd Amendment to keep and bear arms against our oppressors the "progressive collective stupor."
A progressive democrat or republican should be ashamed and fear for their own souls if they even have one-let alone think themselves smarter than a sixth grader.
There can be only one consciousness and that is the individual's. Reason does not become of a collective conscience that is brainwashed or in the case of Sandy Hook Elementary "brain dead."
