Primary sees low voter turnout statewide, Cass County higher than expected


Of Cass County's 17,901 registered voters, only 6,133, or 34.3 percent cast ballots in Tuesday's Primary Election. Secretary of State Mark Ritchie had estimated voter turnout on the state level to be 12 percent, however it did come in slightly above the 12 percent mark, but lower than the 2008 primary.

Ballots cast by political party in Cass County included: Independence, 213, 3.47 percent; Republican, 2,145, 34.97 percent; and Democratic-Farmer-Labor, 3,495, 56.99 percent.
