Paul was born March 31, 1936 in Fargo, North Dakota to Sophus and Martha (Stenberg) Trom. He grew up in Casselton, North Dakota, graduating from Casselton High School. Following graduation he attended the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks and attained a degree in Marketing. In 1957 he married Rosemary Nilles and subsequently began an eighteen year career with JC Penney, living in several Midwestern states during that time. The remainder of his working career he was a business owner in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa for an eight year period, followed by employment with Ardans Catalog Showroom in Minneapolis, Kays Catalog Showroom in Texas, followed by a transfer to Decatur, Illinois. In 1998 he and Sue retired to Big Deep Lake near Hackensack where they have spent the last 13 years enjoying many memorable family times, and just being "up north" by the water. Paul liked to spend time woodworking, golfing, traveling, having coffee with his buddies in Hackensack, and being a Minnesota Twins fan. He will be remembered as a very supportive husband and father, and as a man who knew how to work hard while always maintaining his sense of humor.
