Paul Hipsher, age 87, of Longville, Minnesota passed away January 25, 2016 at the Minnesota Veteran's Home in Fergus Falls. He was born in Shirley, Massachusetts January 20, 1929, the son of LeRoy and Dorothy Hipsher.

At age 18 Paul enlisted in the Korean War and when discharged embarked on a series of jobs which evolved into a 15-year music career. As lead singer and percussionist, he put together various groups in the Twin City area, playing the major clubs and hotels. He then moved on to clubs in New York City and Canada, a record contract and college concerts.

In 1963 Paul married Dianne Homme and in 1971 they moved to Longville to begin what turned out to be a dream come true, living on a quiet lake in the beautiful North woods. Paul came armed with research on how to build a house. When that was accomplished he taught himself how to create stained glass lamps and windows. After a short time he taught Dianne the craft and they enjoyed side-by-side work benches for the next 40 years until they retired. They also bought and sold antiques and this unique combination of home and workshop and business quickly became known as Antique House & Stained Glass Studio. It was a casual atmosphere they very much enjoyed and many customers became life-long friends..

During this time Paul also maintained his interest in music. He assisted various artists in their careers and locally enjoyed singing with the Community Choir and St. Edward's Church choir. He sang at numerous weddings and funerals. His Christian faith led him into leadership roles in Cursillo, a Catholic Diocesan retreat experience, as well as leading the music at various retreats and spiritual gatherings. For many years Paul taught stained glass at Community Ed in Walker. Friends and family were always a joy and priority and a large dog of one breed or another was a staple at the Hipsher household. A recent highlight was celebrating 52 years of married life with Dianne. Paul will be remembered for his beautiful voice, his wonderful sense of humor, a tenacity for anything he saw as important to believe or accomplish and a deep faith in God.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, LeRoy and Dorothy Hipsher, his brother Donald and daughter Pamela. He is survived by his wife Dianne, sister Betty Risk (Tom), sons Steven and Michael (Sara), daughters Tereasa and Tine, 10 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Interment was at the Veteran's Cemetery, Camp Ripley and a special memorial service was held at the Fergus Falls Veteran's Home. There will be a Memorial Mass at St. Edward's Catholic Church in Longville June 11, 2016 at 11:00 A.M with Visitation at 10:A.M. Memorials may be given to the Fergus Falls Veteran's Home.

Funeral Arrangements were with the Dennis Funeral Home in Walker/Longville.
